Referrals
Early referral to hand therapy is encouraged to ensure optimal results.
Private patients
No referral required. Private patients with private health extras cover for Occupational Therapy are eligible for a rebate from their health fund. There will be some out of pocket expenses for the Hand Therapy consultation as well as any consumables, such as splints and dressings.
Medicare
Certain patients with complex or chronic medical conditions may be eligible for a Medicare rebate on our service. Your local doctor will determine your eligibility and provide you with an Enhanced Primary Care plan if appropriate. There is a small gap fee on our consultation and the cost of any items such as splints or dressings is not covered by Medicare.
Workcover patients
Workcover patients require a current Work Capacity Certificate.
DVA patients
A GP referral (D904) is needed. DVA will cover all costs for Gold card holders and specific conditions for White card holders.
